Right on schedule this morning...The cold front is making excellent progress through the forecast area. As of 18Z (Noon Monday), the cold front is denoted on radar by a thin line of showers. It extends from near Vicksburg, MS to Marksville, LA to between Jennings and Crowley to Rockefeller Wildlife Refuge, and down into the coastal waters. No severe weather is occurring, and none is expected with very limited moisture in place. There are no additional showers depicted anywhere on radar. So, if you are in Acadiana, expect rain to move in and out quickly. The front should be near Lafayette by 1p.m. and New Iberia between 1 and 2p.m. Rainfall amounts have totaled a quarter inch or less for the entire area. Clouds will linger for a time behind the front, but the rain will be in and out in about a half hour.
The rain is over for points to the N and W of the aforementioned locations. Cloud cover will hang tough for much of the afternoon, but rapid clearing is expected later this evening. The clearing line at 18Z was nearing Houston. Temperatures have dropped off into the mid 60s to lower 70s behind the front. Temperatures will continue to steadily fall through the afternoon, reaching the upper 50s to near 60 by this evening. Strong NNW winds will be present behind the front with gusts up to 25 mph at times. Strong CAA, clear skies, and gusty winds will continue tonight, and temperatures will drop to the coolest values we've seen so far this season with most locations in the lower 40s by morning. Upper 30s are expected for the Northern extremity of the forecast area, and mid 40s are expected at the coast. Nice and cool weather is on tap through Thursday. Another front arrives Friday with a small chance of rain expected. Another nice weekend is shaping up. Complete details and a sneak peek at the Thanksgiving forecast tonight at the normal time with the complete forecast package.
Make the best of your Monday!
