Severe Weather Outbreak Across SW Louisiana...

The storm system that has been talked about all week is making its presence known across SW Louisiana on this Thursday morning.

There is a plethora of watches and warning to discuss at this time. Here's a rundown:

*Tornado Watch until 1 p.m. for all of SW Louisiana.*

Slight Risk of Severe Weather as per SPC discussion for all of SW Louisiana today.




























Several Tornado Warnings are currently in effect. If you are in one of the following areas. Please activate your tornado plan immediately! Whether a tornado has been spotted or not, you should still heed this warning!

*Tornado Warning for Eastern Calcasieu Parish, North Central Cameron Parish, and nearly all of Jefferson Davis Parish until 12:15p.m. This includes locations such as Bell City, Hayes, Iowa, Welsh, Lake Arthur, and Jennings. The possible tornado should be near Hayes now, Welsh and Jennings at about 11:40a.m., Iowa at 11:45a.m., and Fenton shortly after noon.

Another possible tornadic cell was just East of the Lacassine Wildlife Refuge, and moving North. A tornado was confirmed near Grand Chenier by the Cameron Parish Sheriff's Office at 10:35a.m. Again, if you are the areas mentioned above activate your tornado plan immediately!

Very heavy rainfall is occurring much of the area at this time, and this will continue into the afternoon.

*A Flash Flood Warning is in effect for all the following locations in SW Louisiana & SE Texas until 12:45p.m.: Jefferson County including Beaumont, Orange County including Orange, Newton County including Deweyville, Jasper County including Jasper in Texas, and Calcasieu Parish including Lake Charles & Sulphur, Cameron Parish including Cameron, Hackberry, and Grand Chenier, Beauregard Parish includind DeRidder, and Vernon Parish including Leesville-Fort Polk.

Heavy rainfall from slow moving thunderstorms will occur over the warned area for the next few hours. 2-4" of rainfall will fall in a short amount of time, leading to significant street flooding across the warned area. To cite an example of what may occur over the area through mid-afternoon 4.29" of rain fell in about 3 hours 6 miles ENE of Fannet, TX near Beaumont.

Here are some other spot reports as of 11:15a.m.

-0.50" hail 7 miles ENE of Grand Lake in Southern Calcasieu Parish just before 11:00a.m.

-Cameron Parish Sheriff Office confirmed a tornado touch down near Grand Chenier at 10:35a.m.

-2 water spouts were reported 2 miles South of Grand Chenier at 10:31a.m. sighted from an oil platform just offshore.

If you have anything to report, please pass it on. If you have pictures of storm damage, those are encouraged too, but please don't risk your life trying to get a picture or video. Wait until it is safe to do so!
